Before you start
Before you start, you'll need to check that you satisfy the following requirements:
- You need at least one organisation in Xero.
- You need the adviser or standard user role to connect and manage third-party apps. If you don't have sufficient access permissions, please talk to your financial controller.
Please note that only data in Xero up to the latest complete month will be imported into Hyper Anna.
Let's get started
Once you've completed the final step of signing up to Hyper Anna, setting your password, you'll be shown a welcome message prompting you to add a new dataset or explore sample data. Click on the add new dataset button.
If you'd prefer to explore sample data first, you can always add a new dataset later on via the Datasets tab in the top navigation menu.
Upon clicking the add new dataset button, you'll be prompted to connect to Xero. You'll need to enter your Xero credentials so that we can import your data into Anna. Don't worry, your data is safe and secure as it's protected by our stringent security measures. Click the connect button.
Enter your Xero email address and password and click log in.
If you have two-step authentication enabled for your Xero account, you'll need to enter the code from your authenticator app and click continue. Learn more about how to set up two-step authentication for Xero.
Choose one of your organisations from the dropdown menu then click allow access for 30 mins. If you don't have an organisation or permission to connect, please talk to your financial controller.
If your connection to Xero is unsuccessful, you'll see a red error message appear at the bottom left of the screen. Please click on the add new dataset button in the top right to try connecting again.
Once connected to Xero, you'll see a message appear at the bottom left of the screen. This means that your data is uploading to Anna. The upload process usually takes a while (at least 10 minutes), so feel free to explore the sample data or grab a coffee while you wait. You'll be notified once your Xero dataset has been added.
Once your Xero dataset has been added, you can change to the dataset by clicking on Change to this dataset in the green message at the bottom left of the screen. You can also change datasets via the drop down menu at the top right.
Congratulations, your Xero dataset has been added and you can now explore the key drivers of change (What caused this?) and Unexpected Changes for your revenue, expenses and profit from the Discover tab in the top navigation menu.
Refreshing a dataset
For now, your Xero dataset won't be refreshed automatically. You'll need to click on the Datasets tab in the top navigation to view your datasets. You should see a small Refresh button next to your Xero dataset. Click on Refresh, enter your Xero credentials and your latest Xero data will be uploaded to Anna. We'll let you know once your dataset has been refreshed.
